The main lodge at Elk Lake, built in 1904, is a typical rustic example of Adirondack architecture featuring a large fieldstone fireplace with Adirondack and Craft Movement furniture, and is home to the Elk Lake Lodge dining room. The lodge offers six comfortable rooms, each with twin beds and private bath.
Eight private cottages nearby all have Adirondack mountain and Elk Lake views. Each cottage is unique, varying in size and offering seclusion for one couple or larger groups. Each Adirondack cottage has a living room and modern bath. Some of the cottages also have kitchens and fireplaces, giving you all the comforts of home while staying in the Adirondack wilderness.
Annie Stoltie reports in Adirondack Life Magazine that Elk Lake is, "really ecotourism at its best: a lodge and outbuildings with an incredibly light touch - no expansion plans or wear on the land, a comprehensive recycling program, environmentally-friendly cleaning products, produce and other goods provided by local farms, staff mostly from area hamlets and towns."
